Hojo made Lucrecia believe the child was stillborn. He kept her in the labs of Shinra. Before Sephiroth was born Hojo did several experiments on her that failed. One caused her natural red eyes to turn blue in the middle. Vengeance's teenage years consisted of chasing Sephiroth and doing Hojo's dirty work. She was the cause of the Wutai war.
